Har Ghar Jal scheme, which was introduced by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to provide every household with access to piped water, remains a distant dream for the villagers of thuroo Dharnasi.

Mohd Akram Advocate, General Secretary, Gujjar Bakarwal Youth Welfare Conference (GBYWC) today in a press statement said that the inhabitants of ward No. 9 in village Thuroo District Reasi are in severe water crisis/scarcity. Despite contacting field staff and official of concerned department to resolve the issue, the situation is dire, and the villagers are desperately in need of immediate assistance.

He said that Dharnasi, with its population of approximately 5000, are continuously experiencing significant scarcity of potable water. The water crisis has disrupted the daily lives of the villagers, impacting their health, hygiene, and overall well-being. The absence of access to clean and safe drinking water poses a serious threat to their health and is a violation of their basic right to water.

He lambasted the administration for not repairing the pipe lines which are badly  damaged  and leakage issues of water  is cause of concern since decade but no one is serious to tackle the issue. Inhabitants have made requests to concerned field employees and officers but till day lines are unrepaired and grievances are unheard.

Inhabitants approached to Junior Engineer (JE) and Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department in Dharmari several times but all efforts have proven futile, as no substantial action has been taken to resolve the water crisis.

Akram urged, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to direct the concerned officers of the PHE department to expedite the repair and maintenance of the water pipelines in Village Dharnasi. Immediate attention is needed to ensure the provision of uninterrupted water supply to the villagers, especially in light of the critical situation we currently facing. He further said that Access to clean water is not only a basic necessity of life but also a fundamental right recognized by national and international frameworks. It is crucial that the water crisis in Village Dharnasi is resolved promptly to safeguard the health and well-being of its residents.
